About the Artist

I grew up on Martha's Vineyard, an island as rich in history as it is in beauty.  At any early age my Father not only taught me how to draw but provided me with a great appreciation for art.  For nearly 20 years I worked in my family's gallery, Willoughby Fine Art Gallery, while honing my skills as an artist. I have benefited from the expertise, critique and tutelage of the many artists we've represented over the years.  I have spent my life surrounded by artists and a landscape that demands one to paint, paint, paint!

"Art is when you hear a knocking at your soul - And you answer"  ~ Terri Guillemets

What inspires me to paint a particular landscape is that overwhelming sense of AWEI am transfixed. What I choose to celebrate  in nature is her undeniable and ever changing beauty.  It is that salt marsh where the sun is setting and  I see various pools that are uniquely lit and colored by the reflective light of the sky and setting sun.  Perhaps it is the Menemsha sunset that never fails to draw a crowd & applause for its simple irrefutable magnificence.  It is relief from these busy chaotic times in which we live.

"The artist gazes upon a reality and creates his own impression.  The viewer gazes upon the impression and creates his own reality." ~ Robert Brault
